.. BALLAD OF SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN "Standing in a line in front of John Wayne Would be Arizona Senator John McCain." You have to wonder what the man was thinking, Was he on drugs or had he been drinking When he said the Senator was no war hero But whatever he meant it amounted to zero. For a man born with a silver spoon in his mouth, When war broke out he could have gone south But instead he chose to fly the other way On a dangerous mission to earn his pay. The flak was heavy from the AA gun So thick you couldn't see the sun. They were out to bomb that thermal plant And they had more guts than Ulysses S Grant He claims today it was a missile named SAM That took him out over North Vietnam He landed in the water and was dragged ashore Where he was kicked, stabbed and kicked some more. For the next five years he was a Prisoner of War Where he ate bad chow and they kicked him some more. But more than anything they knew he would enjoy The view he had from his hotel in Hanoi. Many, many years have passed since then But if he had to go and do it again Standing in a line in front of John Wayne Would be Arizona Senator John McCain.

BALLAD OF A WACKY NUT JOB

Can we take the President at his word
Or has Twitter world become more absurd
When he takes on a right-wing heart throb
And calls her a Wacky Nut Job.

Politics by social media rant
Is for all of those who can't
Or just don't have the ability
To show some common civility.

So we are faced with a common fraud
And we are expected to applaud
That what we read in a terse outburst
Is political rhetoric at its worst.
To tag someone a Wacky Nut Job

Is inviting the local lynch mob
From either side of the Aisle
To arrive with a rope and a smile.
Haven't we had enough of this
Execution by Twitter mafia kiss

You would think the Commander-in-Chief
Would learn how not to be so brief.
Might he try to be more convincing
And not Tweet things that leave us wincing
At least for the sake of progress

Delete forever his Twitter address
It's the same old stink over the same old wall
That he will probably never get at all
And she was one of his biggest fans
To put a stop to the caravans.

Now she's just another headache
For the president all her news is fake.
Overnight from conservative to revolter
Goes by the name of Ann Coulter

THE BALLAD OF ILHAN OMAR, PART TWO

It's plain she is not out to win any friends
From all of the messages she sends
She knows exactly how to upstage
The Fox news hosts with their faux outrage,
For her, Barack is just a pretty face
And they're still trying to figure out his birthplace.

The rest of the House is nothing but pomp,
And she'll do her best to clean out the swamp.
First it was all over the news,
How everyone is in the pocket of the jews,
Then she takes on the status quo,
Who are all bought off by SuperPac dough.

The best they can do is come up with a bill,
But it's just another Congressional drill.
As they try to hide their political sins
On it being all about the Benjamins.
Will someone please tell us the truth,
Is it all about her stubborn youth?

Is she being too aggressive
Or have we lost the meaning of progressive?
Barack and Meghan listen up
You're no longer the buttercup
Of all the those you took for a fool
And treated like they were in middle school.

They're just trying to make her the new scapegoat,
But she's not the only one rocking the boat
From the last election there's a new wave
Out to drown the Speaker and not be a slave.
From the New York Times to the Washington Post,
From the Great Lakes out to the West Coast.

As the paid off Congressmen shout "Unfair!!"
She will soon be in Vogue and Vanity Fair.
There's hope in all that melancholia
It's Ilhan Omar from Somalia.

17 February 2019–A RIDICULOUS QUESTION The Venezuelan envoy had a bad case of indigestion,When he refused to answer that "ridiculous question," During a hearing in Foreign Affairs, Certain to give the envoy recurring nightmares. If anything can be learned from the past. The House representative let a shadow be cast, On the envoy's previous schemes, With Central American regimes. She brought out a long list of indicators, Of just how many ruthless dictators All with one thing in common to hide, Under the category of genocide. By the end of the show one could only despise, The envoy caught up in all of his lies Before the committee's and the world's eyes, There was no room for compromise. As the envoy held his head in shame, The congresswoman mispronounced his name All he could do is protest and cry That he wasn't permitted to reply. Of course it didn't make any sense As he didn't have much of a defense. His dubious record was under attack, And he had no way to fight back. Once again a voice in the crowd Had the courage to say out loud What everyone knew was undoubtedly true The envoy was finished by the time she was through. No telling where she will go from here, But all the audience could do was cheer. For the time being she's a rising star, The Minnesota Democrat, Ilhan Omar.
17 February 2019 GRANPA TRUMP & THE OCASIO MANIFESTO Maybe he just doesn't get it or the reading is too thick, Or the freshman on the floor is playing a trick But the one thing lacking from that Green New Deal resolution Is convolution Written and proposed by Congresswoman Ocasio The Green New Deal reads like a manifesto. What the President just doesn't quite understand It's not a request but a demand For the frontline and vulnerable communities With no clean water and left outside to freeze She dots all the "i's" and crosses all the "t's" As she spells out future opportunities The President gets on another Twitter tirade Like a grand marshal in a beauty queen parade. To his followers where he's always played To those who never made it out of ninth grade. Granpa in the White House is just too old To embrace such an idea so bold. He writes the manifesto off as high school, In the process making himself look like just another fool. She's been called a coffee shop barista, By those taking a permanent siesta But she's the face of a new generation In Congress to lead the American nation.
Speaker Pelosi or Bela Lugosi Don't expect applause from Speaker Pelosi Like asking for blood from Bela Lugosi Does anyone even know what it's all about, By the freshman representative in her newest shout-out? With a radical climate change reform bill With a Twitter hashtag #greennewdeal. If she thought she was going to get anywhere with Nancy Pelosi, She might as well have been talking to Bela Lugosi. Who by the time she was done was seeing red As the quest for green had risen from the dead. Who is this upstart with the hyphenated name? Out to get fifteen minutes of fame At the Speaker of the House's expense, Who's tagged the #greennewdeal as nonsense. It's not even a trending hashtag, Brushed aside by Lugosi in drag, Who's just too old to be for real When confronted with a #greennewdeal. You have to give the new girl some space As she's out to save the human race From all the old bats on Capitol Hill Too old to legislate the simplest bill. So is the #greennewdeal a D.O.A? Will it even last until yesterday? Don't expect applause from Speaker Pelosi Like asking for blood from Bela Lugosi
17 June 2017 BALLAD OF THE SEVEN SAILORS As POTUS tweeted from his retreat at Camp David Wondering if the special prosecutor was going to hand him an affidavit Over some menial Beltway investigation And his supporters held their breath across the nation Out on the high seas off the coast of Japan The impossible had just somehow happened A cargo ship from the Philippines With a load of sushi and fake blue jeans Approached one of the US Navy's vessels Armed to the teeth with cruise missiles The cargo ship proceeded to collide With a midship starboard broadside With a gaping hole in poured the ocean In the middle of all the commotion The Fitz managed to get underway As the Captain gave orders for anchors aweigh. But upon doing a muster of the crew All hands on deck and this means you It turned up that a number of sailors were gone And a search was called at the break of dawn. The waters were scoured from the sea and the sky As POTUS at Camp David could only wonder why He tweeted he hoped they would soon be found But everybody knew the seven had drowned. A day went by and it soon went to two Then what was feared suddenly came true It was hard to imagine what their lives were worth When they were found dead in a flooded berth. So let the politicians in their pompous arena Continue with their game of subpoena Let them all have congressional hearings That amount to nothing but television ratings. Let them forget when it drops off the news Who's minding the store and paying the dues Let the rich wine and dine at the Ritz The rest of us will remember who died on the Fitz.
07 June 2017 DANGEROUS WOMAN You can tell it to the British, tell it to the French Tell the politicians sitting on a fence. Something just happened, a foreboding omen That goes by the name of Dangerous Woman Somewhere out there on the tour Behind the scenes, vague and obscure Hidden in the meaning of the Tarot cards Lost in the number of security guards When Scotland Yard can't find a clue As the Queen arrives in her best blue In the dark at Trafalgar Square Dangerous Woman recites a prayer. It's midnight over at the Louvre As the watchman serves an hors d'oerves And blames Picasso for Cubism With some melancholy euphuism. Meantime General Charles De Gaulle Dances at the military ball When the shadow from the lunar gnomon Points toward the Dangerous Woman. As her plane takes off from Orly Field The gendarmes keep their eyes peeled While on the ground President Macron Blows a kiss to Dangerous Woman. Flying above a magnificent cloud Over the rainbow and singing loud No matter what the show must go on For she's the Dangerous Woman.
13 May 2017 KIM JONG-UN: TOO BIG TO FAIL- As ancient generals stood close by Wearing medals to personify That in a battle full-scale They may just be too big to fail This guy's nothing but a thorn in the side Of every leader worldwide He finds it very difficult To go a day without an insult. He's declared war on the Sea of Japan Firing missiles as fast as he can They land in the water after hundreds of miles As he stands by the gantry and waves and smiles. Who is this latest phenomenon Who's never heard of Panmunjom And the war that ended back in Fifty-Three When the Yanks went back to the Land of the Free. But they drew a line at the 38th parallel And said don't cross or be blown to Hell. It was a war that nobody won But that don't mean a thing to Kim Jong Un. If you get off the plane in Pyongyang You could be arrested by some of his gang He'll announce to the world that you're a spy Before he lets another missile fly. You may disappear into some jail Where the soup is cold and the bread is stale You could just vanish without a trace. Or have VX stuffed in your face. In New York the expectations Are very low at the United Nations There doesn't seem to be a workable plan To deal with this nuisance of a man China keeps hiding in the shadows As the rest of the Security Council oppose Taking any responsible vote That will put a knife to Kim's throat. Goose stepping troops on the Day of the Sun Saluted allegiance to Kim Jong Un Followed by tanks and missiles on trucks That must have cost megabucks As ancient generals stood close by Wearing medals to personify That in a battle full-scale They may just be too big to fail
