If there are patterns that emerge from visits to this website, another curious one occurred on 8/31/04 in the form of three visits from "Fox News search"--(see below--"Recent Visitors").The first visitor from Fox News search was ang.af.mil(Reese AFB/Andrews AFB, MD) at 7:55:50 (AM/PDT) followed nearly immediately by a visit from smdc.army.mil (US Army Space and Strategic Defence/Arlington, VA) at 8:02:44 (AM/PDT); that followed by a visit from montgomery.com (Nationsbank/Montgomery Securities)at 9:31:14 (AM/PDT) all with search terms the same; "simon mann".
Accounting for this, or at least the simplest explanation is the Google ad placed on the Google search page when the term "mark thatcher" is entered. What appears at the Fox News meta search is the Google ad.

It was inevitable that instead of reconpresseusa searching on Google, it was Google searching on reconpresseusa (see below--"Recent Visitors"). Possibly because following the arrest of Mark Thatcher, an ad was bought on the Google search page with one of the keywords being "Mark Thatcher". This immediately placed reconpresseusa in direct competition with the page one search-box heavyweights, a.k.a. the "media monopoly", such as the BBC and CNN. Prior to Thatcher's arrest, reconpresseusa did not have Thatcher's name on the website and the only way to assure a top listing at the Google search page was to buy an ad that would be placed next to the media monopoly. Without disclosing the number of visitors stolen away from the monopoly, it is safe to say--the scheme worked.

Hardly out of a Forsythe novel, it was almost a cavalier approach to a very dangerous mission, like marching off to a "very fine war". And what happens when the mercenaries are immediately caught? They cave in to torture like a bunch of undisciplined sea scouts. From published accounts, the torture wasn't even brutal; except possibly for the German Gerhard Merz, who's death certificate read "cerebral malaria" when it should have read "crushed cranium".
The Old Etonian, SAS guys lived the soft life for too long in their posh estates, forgetting what it was like on the other side of the swamp. And if the erstwhile mercenaries proved to be nothing more than a gang of blueblood sissies, the real bluebloods, the coup financiers, turned on each other like a pack of bloodthirsty hyenas no sooner the plot fell apart; each ratting on the other, all of them in denial.
Not one of them showing "True Brit", standing up and saying it was the noble thing to do, overthrow a corrupt, homicidal dictator for the good of the Equator-Guineans and for the rest of Africa, before falling on the sword they were given when they were knighted. Not "Lords'' and "Sirs" at all, nothing more than a bunch of back-lot chickens with names like "Smelly" and "Scratcher".

By way of introduction, it is important to note how the Internet has changed the nature of discovery of information surrounding an investigation. Since early March,2004, when the mercenaries were detained in Zimbabwe, the story limped along on both legs with only scant information available in the news surrounding not only the fate of the mercenaries but the bigger picture of who was behind the plot. The very lack of information allowed anybody following it on a website, such as reconpresseusa, to achieve prime Google listings, while others fell off to the "also ran" column.
The result was a number of high-profile visits to this website from mainstream media in the United Kingdom that caused a re-evaluation at how to establish priorities on the website. As if in anticipation of a prime visitor, it came in the form of "the Chambers of Richard Rampton", the Holocaust denial libel attorney. His Google search terms were "greg wales" and "equatorial guinea".
Rampton's visit was followed almost simultaneously by that of "Telegraph Group Ltd." with Google search terms "greg wales" and "executive outcomes". Obviously, news about Greg Wales was non-existent; typing the name into Google showed 300 results, most related to the usual rock-star, recording producer. However, a translation of a French page, "l'Intelligent.com", revealed that the initial meetings between the financiers were at the Sandton Sun, a key part that would allow the story to get a "new set of legs".
In the course of following the visits leading up to the arrest of Mark Thatcher on August 25th, it became apparent that all inquiries were made using the most superficial of search keywords, the reason behind it might be that the more generalized the term, the broader the search base. But it also might be interpreted that whoever was searching had not just a very little understanding of the complexity of the case, but also lack of understanding of information discovery on the web. Because of this, the story begins not with the detention of the mercenaries, not with the arrest of Thatcher, but with who the visitors were and are to this website, as well as some other coincidental factors that have played into the investigation;which will be discussed later But first, a list of significant visitors is presented below, with some background notes attached to each visitor.

Above is just a cursory examination of the visitors to the page which saw several spikes when messages were posted on Yahoo finance (Marathon Oil and Amerada Hess--the messages have since been deleted by the Yahoo administrator) concerning the coup during the first week in August, these were solicited visits. But the visitor graph spiked again (unsolicited visits) the day Mark Thatcher was arrested, drawing visits from important and influential UK news media entities as well as from the London Stock Exchange. The page had a different format a couple of days ago but the realization of the fluidity of this story made the fluidity of data at this website the number one priority.
In addition, reconpresseusa has added an advertisement in the right column of Google when search term "mark thatcher" is entered into the search box; in order to remain competitive with the BBC and CNN, now monopolizing the page one listing on the arrest of Thatcher. The story has evolved from the details of the arrests and detentions, to website visits to becoming a key player in access of information on Google against monopolistic media giants.
